This month’s Purppl Partner is Jessica Clement from Ashcroft HUB Society. Take a quick 5 to get to know this new social enterprise leader!

What is your favourite part of your role with The Ashcroft HUB? I’ve been with the Ashcroft HUB almost since it’s beginning in 2015, starting as a volunteer in the office and changing roles as needed. I’m so excited about being the Executive Director now.  Being a tiny organization with very few staff allows me the opportunity to take on many different tasks at once.  Right now we’ve got summer camp happening weekly and I am making Escape Room challenges for some of them.

Jessica Clement, Executive Director, Ashcroft HUB Society

What drew you to social impact work like this?  I’ve always been an active member of this community, from being the chair of the arts group to running our annual fall fair.  I love what the HUB does for our community, and am so thankful that I get to be part of it.

What’s the kindest thing anyone has ever done or said to you?  I have a friend that buys me random things that they see when they are out that made them think of me.  I have a whole shelf full of things that make me smile every time I see them.

Kids, Kittens or Knitting – which would you spend an unexpectedly available half a day with?  Those are three of my favourite things!  I love being curled up on the couch with my kid and kittens snuggled around me with a knitting project in my hands.

What one thing do you wish people NOT currently working in the social impact space knew about it, or would do differently?  I wish people would realize that we never have enough money. Stop telling me that something is broken or needs to be replaced, I already know that and am spending my “free” time looking for grants to replace it.
